Message from the Consul General of Jamaica, New York

2012_Consul_General_NY_Herman_LamontOn this the occasion of the 9th Jamaican Diaspora Day of Prayer and Fasting (JDOP) and as we near Jamaica’s 51st Independence Anniversary, it is my privilege to offer congratulations to your Steering Committee and all participants in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and elsewhere.

I must also laud Intercessory Prayer International, Inc., an interdenominational religious organization through whose efforts the Prayer Day is held annually. The resultant charitable contributions made to deserving organizations are but only one by-product. Speaking personally, I found last year’s activities (my first) to be spiritually renewing. By the Grace of the Almighty, I look forward to this year’s prayer and fasting, to focus and pray for the improvement of the moral, social and economic well-being in our homeland, Jamaica, and the world.

The staff at the Consulate General of Jamaica, New York, join you and all God-fearing people in prayer for our beloved homeland, as well as in all places where fellow-human beings reside.

Finally, I commend to us all, Colossians 1:9 “For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;..”

Hon. Herman G. LaMont
